How do I safely buy a dog online?

Welbea Kennels encourages you to always go and see the puppy you want to purchase before actually making a financial commitment. This enables you to deal face-to-face with the seller and to be able to see the personality of the puppy you desire. The kennel you have chosen should readily agree to this.

However, if because of distance or other reasons, you decide to actually make a purchase over the internet, here are several things you can do to protect yourself against internet fraud.*

1. Call the seller. Legitimate online breeders post traceable phone numbers.
2. Have the seller send a photo of the dog next to a sign with your name and date on it, as proof that they actually have what they've advertised.
3. Never wire money for any internet purchase. Use a credit card.
4. Be aware that yahoo.com and hotmail.com emails are often used by scammers because they are free and do not require verification.
5. If you become a victim of a puppy scam, contact your state attorney general or local Better Business Bureau.
